چکیده
Although the presence of leukemic infiltrate in isolated organs of patie~ts \\'ith chronic lymphocytic leukemia has been reported. the effects of leukemic infiltration into v!rious organs of such patients have never been comprehensively studied. To determine the effects of leukemic infiltration \ve reviewed the histologic sections of multiple organs in 47 cases of chronic lymphocytic leukemia at the University of Maryland Hospital. The leukemic infiltrates were seen in spleen (100 per cent). lymph nodes (100 per cent). liver (98 per cent). kidney (90 per cent). adrenal (71. per cent). heart (64 per cent). and pancreas (37 per cent). After exclusion of the known causes of fibrosis in these organs. the association of fibrosis with leukemic infiltration was as fo"o\\'s: liver (44 per cent). kidney (89 per cent). heart (44 per cent). pancreas (60 per cent). and adrenal (3 per cent). The heart sho\\'ed endocardial. ---,.~_.. q" 'no"~ Accepted for publication February 25, 1980. . Immunophenotypic Characterization of the Leukemic B-cells from Iranian Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia: Association between CD38 Expression and Disease Progression
Background: Patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) have hetero-geneous clinical courses, thus several biological parameters need to be added to the cur-rent clinical staging systems to predict disease outcome. Recent immunophenotypic stud-ies performed mainly in Western populations have demonstrated the prognostic value of CD38 and ZAP-70 expression in B-CLL. Objectives: To i...
متن کاملGPI-Anchored Fibromodulin as a Novel Target in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Implications
Background: We have previously reported the aberrant expression of Fibromodulin (FMOD) in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Although FMOD has been considered as a cytoplasmic or secretory protein, we discovered the cell surface expression of FMOD in leukemic B cells via anchoring with glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI). Objective: To evaluate FM...

B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) is a low-grade lymphoproliferative disease. Cutaneous involvement of B-CLL is limited and, in most cases, it represents non-specific manifestations related to an impaired immune system. Leukemic skin infiltrates (leukemia cutis) occur in 4-20% of patients. Herein we report the case of a 65-year-old woman with B-CLL presenting with papular, nodular, an...

: Pseudolymphomatous infiltrates in Borrelia infection of the skin most commonly manifest with dense B-cell infiltrates and plasma cells. Cutaneous infiltrates of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) may accumulate at sites of infection, including Borrelia infection. We report an unusual constellation in a patient with synchronously diagnosed B-CLL and Borrelia infection of skin presenti...

An 82-year-old man known case of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) presented with fever and weakness. He had never received any treatment for his CLL in the past. On admission he was found to be in mild respiratory distress with bilateral crackles and had markedly elevated white blood count (WBC) (137 K/uL with 93% lymphocytes). His respiratory status deteriorated necessitating non-invasive ve...
